What to look for

A round or teardrop head, low or medium balance and a soft or medium core will make the first year easier: off-centre hits still go over the net and the racket is quick to bring up at the net.

You do not need a carbon flagship. Those are built for players who already swing fast and hit cleanly.

Questions

What padel racket should a beginner buy?

A round or teardrop racket with low or medium balance and a soft or medium core, at roughly 355 to 370 grams. The rackets on this list all fit that description or come close.

How long will a beginner racket last?

Most players are ready for an intermediate racket after a year or two of regular play, when they want more from their overheads.
